To Change the World

Well >2.5 weeks before I updated again probably is quite a time-darn it, I think I'm gonna set a new blogging absence record during this period of my exams. Not that I'm actually studying at all to be honest-last night was spent all on watching anime downloaded from this site. Currently looking at Bleach. Nice anime-light-hearted, at times suspenseful, and a good one to while the hours away REALLY quickly with. Also managed to stumble upon Tsubasa Chronicle. CLAMP, creators of CCS, are responsible for this anime, which really shouldn't be any surprise because if you know a bit of CCS, you would notice some glaringly obvious similarities between the 2-something Clamp seems for some annoying reason to love doing. If you know your CLAMP and didn't squeal when you first saw dear old Sakura and Syaoran together, then this anime has, nothing to offer you. The only consolation is proably its background music-choral music always seems to get my vote.

Other than watching anime, there hasn't been many noteworthy things that have been happening, and I'd rather blog nothing at all than blog absolute rubbish. Besides, the somewhat circular nature of things right now seems to have paralysed my brain. Go school, get somewhat stressed about various irrelevant things, go home, slack the whole night away without doing any work, go back to school, lather, rinse, repeat. It's this kind of system that has made studying lose its appeal.

It's not at all surprising to note how like I've said there are so many people who will want to forget everything they've learnt after the exam. When my Maths teacher told us of an ex-student who mugged Maths and saw it as a challenge that he must overcome before he could get into Medicine, yet would also say how he would NEVER want ot be asked ANYTHING related to Maths after the exam, I was quick to critisize this as being a flaw of the education system, but I think I should take that back. After all, the Lit class that resembles some scene from Dead Poets' Society is an utopian idea. Here, Utopian refers to an unreachable ideal. Of course, we would all like our Lit classes to be like that, but to ask everyone to like what they study seems a bit forceful. After all, human beings are all different, and some will just not be academically inclined.

We all know that if someone is not academically inclined, it does not mean that he is a retarded, untalented nut, yet the fact remains that this person will have a much more tougher journey to the top. Like it or not, Edexcel's motto "Success through Qualifictions" may be materialistic, but it is true. If you do not have that cert full of kickass grades, society will automatically assume that you are a retarded nut. Such is the way of the world, and it will do us no good to continue moping about how unfair it is. Education, regardless, is one of the opportunities that we have been provided with, and opportunities as a whole do not often cross paths with us.

Read Mr Moron's recent post on life. It's this kind of real-world pragmatism that often gets in the way of one's dreams, but I think Sean Covey got it right when he wrote about the first habit of "highly effective teens"-Be proactive. YOU are the one who is in control of YOUR life. Eg don't start saying X pisses you off-YOU chose to be pissed off by X's crap! This translates into controlling effectively what opportunities one has so that what he cannot control gets influenced to the best of his ability. At the same time, be observant and DO NOT NEGLECT THE SMALL THINGS!!!!

We all dream of changng the world. We all think we will never be like George Bush and will not be changing lives. Well, whoever thinks this way WAKE UP, because I am going to KILL Linkin Park for spewing such rubbish. What about the people around you? Your friends, family, colleagues? What about the things you do? The words you say or write? Make no mistake, anything that you say or do CAN and WILL have an impact upon every soul you meet. The artificial, faceless formality and sometimes futile attempts through the signing of papers of the big-budget people up there can never compare to the power of the personal human touch. Don't think so? Well how do you know? Dare you presume to know THAT much about EVERYONE you meet? Every person is a vast, immense sea of emotions and feelings ever so subtly influenced by the things that happen in the world around them-many aren't even wary of how their thoughts and actions are influenced by others, and those that are are probably too shy to admit it. Put simply, NEVER think that you have not made a difference in this world. You may not know it, but every person you come into contact, you have somehow changed.

That is all I have to say for now. Till I next blog again which I hope will be soon, live well!
